An open letter from Kevin Quaranta

Dear Bedford/Katonah neighbors,

Please see this past Friday's Record Review(page 19 of the November 2 edition) where associate editor Eve Marx in her column gives a report on her personal observations over 4 years in our Bedford Town Court, saying in part:

"Judge Quaranta's handling of every case that passes through his court has been fair, balanced, and most of all lawful. He has shown compassion when compassion is called for,and has been stern and severe when harsher measures are the right course. His courtroom is lively, courteous and most of all professional...I say vote for Quaranta. He's the right man for the job."

Naturally, I am grateful that over the last four years good and wise people like Eve Marx respect the hard work, common sense approach and just results associated with our Court.

I might also say a word about an item or two raised in this campaign regarding Court starting time and the sentencing of certain defendants.  The court's actual start time is dictated by the pace of negotiations with litigants, their lawyers and the prosecutors. Both Judges in Town have essentially the same start time. No judge, either on the bench or behind the scenes, has outworked me in the last four years!

As for case dispositions, I do a lot of listening to those who have valuable input before any case is decided. It's no coincidence that in the year 2007 alone,  in about 5,000 cases, my decisions have never been appealed, or the source of any complaint. I respectfully suggest our Court and our Town is in safe hands, at least as long as I can help it!!

Last , I wish to thank the hundreds of Townsfolk who have given their time, and donations to my campaign. This is most appreciated and to a level no other campaign in any local race has matched this year!

For those of you still in need of more information about me or my work as Judge here in Bedford, see KevinQuaranta.ORG.

THANK YOU ALL AGAIN, & SEE YOU AT THE POLLS ON NOVEMBER 6.

Respectfully,

Kevin Quaranta
