Support Quaranta, Burdick in Bedford
I would like to publicly endorse two Democrats running for office on Nov. 6: Kevin Quaranta for re-election as Bedford town justice; and Chris Burdick for election to the Bedford Town Board. As a registered Republican in Katonah/Bedford, I do not usually cross party lines at the polls, but believe that the above-mentioned candidates have the utmost integrity and highest level of commitment to our town and the administrative process, and I believe that they are the right people to have in office.
In his four years as Bedford Town Court judge, Quaranta has made the court more accessible by instituting evening sessions, he has reformed jury service, thus lightening the burden for potential jurors, and he has opened up the court to law student interns, so they can enhance their learning and training experience. In addition, Judge Quaranta has a reasonable and fair approach to administering the law, which is often lacking in today's courts.
Chris Burdick has served our community on the Wetlands Control Commission, the Bedford Master Plan Review Committee and the Board of the Westmoreland Sanctuary. He is committed to protecting our fragile drinking water system, and ensuring that area residents have pollutant-free water, installing a sewer system, and holding down our taxes. He genuinely believes all Bedford/Katonah residents deserve a voice in our governance, and I have no doubt he will be receptive to the concerns of the community.
I hope that my fellow voters will join me and re-elect Kevin Quaranta and elect Chris Burdick.
