Judge Quaranta initiated important programs for area youth
To the Editor:
As you are aware, Election Day is drawing near. As a former Bedford resident for 27 years, and current Bedford Village Lions Club member, I wanted to take this opportunity to say a few words about incumbent Town Judge, Kevin Quaranta. Kevin and I became acquainted when he offered me a job in 1999 where I worked for seven years. Shortly after joining Kevin’s firm, I became a member of the Bedford Village Lions Club, where I served as Secretary and President. I invited Kevin to join the Lions, who happens to be the Lions’ current club President.
In 2004, the Bedford Village Lions Club wanted to do more to educate Bedford’s local youth about the law and their local officials. Hence, the first annual Law Day Initiative was born. The program was the brainchild of Kevin and was put together through the efforts of myself and other current Lions. The program was repeated in 2005, 2006, and 2007, with each successive year drawing more volunteers and enthusiastic support from the students. While Kevin may not have perfect attendance at Lions meetings, Kevin has been a big supporter of the Lions by participating in the club’s premier fundraising events such as the annual pancake breakfast (keep your eyes peeled for future announcements), the golf outing and bowling tourney. In addition, Kevin’s wife, Judy was also instrumental in procuring supplies and prizes for the annual Halloween Parade.
In working with Kevin professionally and as a Lion, I have been impressed with his many forward thinking, yet realistic, ideas that I hope will continue to enable the Lions to serve our community. Likewise, Kevin brings theses same skills and ideas to the bench where he can continue to serve
Bedford’s interests if we all step up for him on Election Day.
