Kevin Quaranta has the right stuff for reelection as judge
To the Editor:
If one day I found myself in front of a local town justice, I would hope that person has the qualities that I've come to know and respect in my friend Kevin Quaranta.
An outstanding judge requires a complex group of skills and qualities. This person must be well educated, with a history of professionalism in the law, and preferably years of experience as a judge. Kevin is a graduate of Fordham Law School, and for 20 years has managed a thriving law practice with offices in Westchester and the Bronx. He has successfully served for four years as Bedford town justice, with many attesting to his energy, efficiency, and innovation.
If I were ever facing a town justice I would hope that he was well ground, with deep roots in his community, a loving family, and a sense of compassion. Kevin has lived in Bedford for 15 years, and has one of the finest families that a man could ask for, with a wonderful and supportive life partner in Judy, and three terrific kids who with our affectation sow respect for others and for this lifestyle that so many of our children seem to take for granted. Kevin’s compassion is evident in his lifelong commitment to mentoring children. A past president of Catholic Big Brothers and Sisters of New York, I have often seen him focus on the children who have the least, understanding that they are the vulnerable ones most in need of our attention.
I would want that town justice to be a good listener, with a high level of emotional intelligence. I’d want him to be smart, intuitive, and a man of integrity. Kevin is all of those things. He’s an exceptionally perceptive listener, and understands the message behind the words. He speaks as well as anyone I know. We can count on him to do what he says he’ll do, and to grapple with the tough choices and do the right thing.
That's the Kevin I know. We should all be lucky enough to have justice served by people like Kevin Quaranta.
